It’s finally here!

I am so excited for today! I’ve been anxiously waiting for this day to come for the past 6 months or so. It’s my birthday! And even more importantly, it’s the re-launch of the blog! I’ve put in a good amount of time and money and heart into relaunching the blog so I really hope you enjoy it and I really hope you look forward to what’s to come as much as I do!

Let me take you on a little journey…
The Unbound Book Club originally started in September of 2016. I was unemployed and needed a hobby and was in a TRANSITION phase in my life. A LOT was changing and for the first time in my life, I wasn’t really doing anything and had no real plans. At first I was all about it and excited for the possibilities, but after a while I started getting restless. The blog was a way to kind of ease the restlessness. But I wasn’t consistent AT ALL. And it really was like a personal journal. I talked about random things posted every other week or maybe every 4 weeks, who knew? But then I got a job. A real corporate, big girl, job. And I was excited and all in. But being all in at work meant The Unbound Book Club took a back seat. I mean, if I’m being honest, it kind of already did but this time it REALLY took a back seat…

Fast forward to August/September of 2017. I signed up for life coaching and mid-way through my program it kind of just popped in my head “I should start blogging again!” My life coach was all for it and she challenged me to re-design the blog. So, I did! And then I re-designed it again, and again, and then got slightly discouraged but we kept the conversation going. And it turned into “why do you want to blog?”, “what do you have to say?”, “what is your purpose?” And THAT is why I decided to re-launch.

I wanted a place to say what I have to say. I’ve never been really confrontational, I’m not really in your face, and I don’t prefer to impose my opinions on people. BUT this is MY space that I’m welcoming you into. When I first started blogging, the best feedback I got was that people felt good knowing they’re not alone and they’re not the only ones who feel a certain way. And I can relate. I know exactly how that feels and how much of a relief it is to know you’re not crazy!

So, what is The Unbound Book Club? and Why am I really re-launching?

The Unbound Book Club put simply is PERSONAL JOURNAL + YOUR BEST FRIENDS + CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. It’s about writing our own stories and creating lives that we love. It’s about facing our fears, challenging our ways of thinking and opening our minds, and we’re not just going to talk about it, we’re going to be BE ABOUT IT. It’s a call to action. And I’m re-launching, well, because I need to. I have a lot to say and a lot of fears to face and deep in my soul I feel like this place, The Unbound Book Club, can really come to life and inspire you to really live life unbound too, no matter what that looks like.

What does that even mean?!?
When I first started, living unbound was more about transition. I was experiencing a lot of life changes and it put into perspective that we’re not “bound” to anything and in a lot of ways, nothing lasts forever. Now, living unbound, for me, is about being fearless. I have a lot of irrational and rational fears that hold me back. I don’t do things I want to do sometimes because my head is full of “what ifs?” And I don’t want to live like that anymore. I want to take responsibility for my life, take ownership of it, and celebrate it. I want to live life unbound.

And here’s what you can expect…

Honesty. Being honest about journeying through life is the most important aspect to this blog. It’s probably the most important aspect to life. I’m willing to share my honest journey, my truth, my opinions in hopes that we call all be honest with each other no matter how easy or difficult that might be. Honesty is the only way we can figure out what’s right for ourselves and how we can understand each other.

Creativity. This blog is now authored by 1 person, 5 personas. Does that sound confusing? Let me explain. When I was thinking about how I wanted to approach the re-launch and how I wanted to present the blog, I decided to create 5 general categories. And then I thought about the origins of the blog and how the blog was originally inspired by this idea I had to get a group of my closest girlfriends together to support and empower each other and each woman was chosen to be a part of the group because I felt like they each brought something specific to the table. So when I thought about organizing the blog, I thought, “If I created a book club of me, what would I bring to the table?” and I came up with 5 categories, 5 persons. You’ll get to know them each in the coming weeks and you can read about them in the side bar but, there’s Roxanne the Creative who talks about dream chasing and networking, San the Traveler who loves the adventure and exploring, Rox the Boss who talks all about self-care, self-confidence, and motivates us to go for what we want, Sannie and Relationships who believes we’re all connected, and Dawn the Spiritual who shares her faith journey but also believes that whatever your higher source is, it’s a beautiful connection to have.

Growth and Evolution. We’re challenging ourselves! So by default, we going to grow and change and that’s okay! It’s going to be uncomfortable at times, we’re going to change our minds and our perspectives, it might even be terrifying if we do it right. But it’s all okay. It’s okay to change your mind, to disagree with people or yourself, it’s okay to not be where you want to be. We’re headed there even if we’re not all the way clear where there is. But we have to stay open minded and willing and patient. It’s going to be an amazing journey.

The Podcast! (You can listen below) This is one of my favorite new parts! We’re starting The Unbound Book Club Podcast for all the lovely people that don’t particularly care to read. 🙂 It’ll also be co-hosted so you’ll get a different point of view with each episode and we’ll have a discussion about each post and dive a little deeper into the topic.
