Day 4: #Food
Pancakes. From scratch!
Alriiiight, Pancakes are NOT my favorite food or anything but last night my parents and I were discussing what we were going to eat for dinner and I suggested breakfast for dinner but we opted for chicken tacos. So, this morning my stepdad got up to make pancakes for me (awww) but our pancake mix was old and gross so what did he do? He made them from scratch! And that’s why I am so grateful for Pancakes! He really didn’t have to, I would have been totally fine without pancakes but the gesture was sweet and so were the pancakes. I took a bite and said “these taste just like cake!” which I guess makes sense since they’re called pancakes but they really were so good. Aaaaaand if you know me, you know I love cake. Big cakes, little cakes, cupcakes, bunt cakes, chocolate cakes, vanilla cakes, carrot cakes, strawberry cakes, mmmmmm….
This post is specifically dedicated to pancakes, but food has always been an important part of my life in general. To clarify, I don’t like eating. (I know. Don’t judge) I think its a chore not only to cook but to stop and eat and I don’t typically eat a lot so going out to eat turns out to be pretty wasteful and I have that weird phobia on buzzfeed where listening to/watching people eat gives me anxiety…
But food is a big part of what brings my family together. There’s so much more than just getting together, it’s also what’s on the menu and how can we contribute. Grandma values that I’m sure she passed down. Me, i’m a baker. I went to culinary school for baking, it’s my escape, and there’s ALWAYS room for dessert. 🙂
So, on this 4th day of gratitude, I’m grateful for pancakes but also for all the food my parents and family have provided for me. Honestly, truly. lol. They’re the real MVPs and I know it’s not going to last forever so thanks rents! (insert raised hands emoji here)
